‘I did  a three day Confident Communication for Women in Business training course with Lisa at Central School of Speech and Drama as I was not confident doing presentations. This was partly because I felt I couldn’t trust my voice to stay strong, or I would ‘go blank’ and forget what I was going to say. In general, I would focus on getting the words out quite quickly and I didn’t even try to make it interesting or engaging. I also wanted to learn to be more confident in professional situations as I was told I talked too quietly.
I found working with Lisa great – we got lots of personal feedback and one to one advice, alongside group instructions. I was given tips and exercises to help me speak more loudly and clearly without much effort. The presentation skills exercises were extremely helpful, especially tips on building a story into a presentation - now all I need to do is to put it into practice.’

‘My job involves me having to project my voice outdoors to as many as 20 people, with all kinds of distractions such as waterfalls and winds. I found that my voice would very often tire and strain by the end of a long day. Lisa taught me how to use my body and breath to help find the muscularity I needed to be heard. As I also give training sessions for new tour leaders, where I am required to do a lot of talking in different languages, Lisa gave me tools for presentation and the confidence to communicate. I am very grateful for all that I have learnt which has put me at the cutting edge of my business’

‘The work I experienced with Lisa on a one to one basis at Central School of Speech and Drama, certainly made me aware of the importance of nurturing the voice and also of the techniques needed to use the voice effectively in presentations. Lisa was enthusiastic, sensitive and willing to listen which are essential qualities of a coach’.

I attended the Elocution course mainly to work on speech clarity and general presentation.  The course, though short and intense was very enjoyable and informative.  What I gained most was distinguishing between vowel sounds and getting out of the habit of shortening words.  I also found the diaphragm, jaw and other breathing exercises very good for preparing to speak.

Lisa was very friendly, humorous and polite. She had the ability to point out limitations in speech without being offensive or patronizing.  She has excellent interpersonal skills and took time to tape-record individual exercises for participants to practice in their own time.  She also provided participants with comprehensive handouts. I would recommend her to anyone who wants to improve the clarity of their speech and improve their general delivery and pronunciation.
