WHAT IS NLP?

It was developed by John Grinder (Linguist) and Richard Bandler (Psychologist) and has over time gained great publicity both in therapy and the business world as the results are powerful, swift and effective. Anthony Robbins and Paul McKenna are perhaps two of the most well known life-coaches who utilize NLP in their work.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

NLP studies the way in which we think, feel and communicate to ourselves and how we can alter these ways to produce the optimum resourceful states to suit our desired intention. Just as a computer works from the software you put into it to attain a specific outcome, so your mind uses the information and experiences stored through your life to map out its own particular responses. This information is lodged in the unconscious part of your mind which responds like a reflex, which is why you may, for instance, think it illogical to be afraid of the dark and yet find it impossible to persuade yourself to feel otherwise or know yourself to be lacking in confidence and yet not feel able to alter that behaviour. NLP is a powerful system that offers you tools to change negative patterns or old conditioned responses to positive ones, shifting all those limiting beliefs, habits and behaviours and allowing you to step into the limitless potential that you are.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING AN NLP SESSION?

During a session, your problem state will be identified and your desired outcome stated. Working from a place of relaxation, you will be guided through one of many exercises involving mainly your 3 primary senses – Visual, Auditory and Kinaesthetic – as a means of shifting or breaking the old, unwanted pattern and replacing it with a healthy and wholesome one aligned to your overall picture and beliefs in life.
